摘要

Hypovolemic shock results in decreased circulating blood volume. Decreased circulating blood volume adversely affects hemodynamic performance, producing reduced tissue perfusion and oxygen delivery to the tissues. Decreased tissue oxygen delivery andmetabolic waste removal has profound systemic effects that occur in a relatively short time. Hypovolemic shock occurs in the avian species with trauma, surgery complications, gastrointestinal disease, coagulopathies, and liver disease. Hypovolemic shockfrom severe acute blood loss has been defined in ducks {Anasplatyrhynchos) with an LD50 of 60% of their total blood volume.1 Hypovolemia results in decreased circulating fluid volume producing decreased blood pressure parameters.
