A panel of deans and chairs from engineering technology programs and an industry representative will address the challenges of the era of globalization. The panel members have been asked to address the challenges as they relate to the needs of engineering technology programs in order to maintain a position of leadership in the world-wide community. They will address the skill sets that engineering technologists must possess at the end of their curricula, the kind of persons that graduates will have to be, and educational delivery and curriculum issues. Engineering technology education may face significant challenges because of rapidly evolving technologies, globalization, changing student demographics, and the funding of higher education. These challenges may profoundly affect the employment patterns and the professional life of engineering technology graduates. Are the current educational practices and policies are sufficient for dealing with these changes? The panelists will present their views and engage the attendees in interactive dialog.
