Adult Nippostrongylus brasiliensis were intraduodenally challenged into BALB/c mice that were given subcutaneous infection with N. brasiliensis larvae 10 days before and terminated intestinal infection. Although almost the all worms were expelled by 24 hr after challenge, substantial number of challenged worms was recovered from the small intestine up to 6 hr after challenge. Second intraduodenal challenge was performed 18 hr after the first challenge when primed mucins were actively discharged. Again secondary challenged worms were recovered in the same level to that of the first challenge. Mucins from mice infected with N. brasiliensis 8 days before was roughly isolated and implanted with adult worms into naive mice. The ratio of worms failed to establish was significantly higher than that with day 5 mucins at 24 hr after challenge. Results suggested that challenged adult N. brasiliensis once attained and adhere to their predilection sites, but failed to establish in the circumstance of primed mucins in immune mice.
