摘要

Mounting evidence shows children's home exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) increases the risk for behavioral and cognitive issues associated with attention-deficit and other disorders. Recently, we published on a new ETS exposure model that reproduces a hyperactive-like phenotype as seen in children. Yet, other behavioral correlates and the mechanism by which ETS exposure altered juvenile behavior remain unclear. Here we employed data-independent mass spectrometry (DIA-MS) label-free quantification to assess induced changes in serum that enter the central nervous system's cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) and correlate with behavioral differences between animals. Findings are expected to shed light on mediating factors underlying ETS-induced behavioral perturbation with diagnostic potential as biomarkers relating exposure with juvenile deficits.
