Convex Imaging Condition for Reverse Time Migration

We propose a novel and computationally inexpensive imaging condition for reverse time migration (RTM), referred to as convex imaging condition. The convex imaging condition has the merit of removing two types of RTM imaging noise discovered before, i.e., the notorious low frequency noise and the primary false image, meanwhile maintaining the capability to image steeply dipping or even vertical structures. To the best of our knowledge, this advanced and important feature is not achieved by any method before, including the Hilbert transform method proposed by Faqi Liu et al. and the de-primary method (and equivalent approaches) proposed by Tong W Fei et al. and Peng Shen et al.
