In addition to the thyroid hormones (TH) 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine (T3) and L-thyroxine (T4), thyroid hormone metabolites (THM) exert their own distinct biological actions [1]. By incorporating MRM/MS3 switched scanning and extract de-lipidation, we have modified and validated our tandem mass spectrometry method [2] for 3,5-diiodothyronine (3,5-T2) and 3,3'-diiodothyronine (3,3'-T2) in human blood serum, and applied it to measure T2 concentrations in healthy individuals.
