Analysis of intact D. melanogaster brains by MALDI-TOF/TOF- and MALDI-FT MS is a comparable technique to those that have been previously published. Eight neuropeptides were identified by mass spectrometry for the first time in this study, from the peptide families of Allatostatin A, Allatostatin B, Diuretic Hormone 31, FMRFamide, and neuropeptide-like precursor 1.
