A fructose-based cell culture is suitable for the production of useful proteins because it decreases lactate production in culture medium, leading to cell and product stability. However, not all cell lines can be cultured in a fructose-based medium. Our previous study suggested that two fructose metabolism-related genes, glucose transporter 5 (GLUT5) and fructose 1, 6-bisphosphatase (FBP) might be related to it. We attempted to develop high expression system of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) in the fructose-based medium by using the fructose metabolism-related gene.
