An increasingly competitive demand from municipalities, agriculture and energy production upon constrained water supplies is shifting the common perspective away from viewing the treatment of sewage as just the traditional handling of a waste. These colliding interests are now forcing both providers and end users to regard impaired waters as a resource which, through the use of current membrane technology, can be put to further beneficial use.
