We recently reported that continuous exposure to 60 Hz elelctromagnetic field (EMF) of 0.1 or 0.5 mT for 8 weeks might induce testicular germ cell apoptosis in mice [1]. The safety guideline of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) indicates that the permissible maximum magnetic agnetic flux density for general public exposure is 83.3 pT for 24 hours per day at 60 Hz EMF [2]. In the present, study, we aimed to further characterize the time-dependent effect of continuous exposure to ELF MF for 83.3 p.T on testicular germ cell apoptosis and the motility, morphology and number of sperm in mice.
