In order to solve the current problems such as poor ability of decoding on multimedia terminals and high cost, an embedded multimedia terminal based on SAMSUNG S3C2440 microprocessor chips, Quasar Toolkit (QT)/Embedded as the application development platform and Arm-Linux-GCC-4. 1.2 as a cross-compiler was designed and developed. Firstly, the transplanting process of the embedded Linux was introduced, which includes the cutting and transplantation of the bootloader, Linux kernel and file system. Then the process of designing and implementing the embedded multimedia terminal was discussed in detail. In this section, a brief view of photo browsing module, audio playback module and video playback module were given also. Finally, the environment of this experiment and its results were described respectively, then the comparison between this solution and other common embedded multimedia terminal was discussed. The final result shows that the scheme of the multimedia terminal had satisfied the design target .and the terminal working was stable and design was rational.
