摘要

Paleolimnological records can provide invaluable information of past climatic conditions and volcanic events. Glaciated landscapes are especially sensitive to environmental changes because small shifts in precipitation can result in significant changes in the size and terminus position of glaciers, which can affect the transport of sediment and water through the watershed (MacGregor et al., 2011). Here, I examine the 12,900-year biogenic silica (BSi) record from Swiftcurrent Lake in Glacier National Park to better understand past climatic changes in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and to examine the potential effect of volcanic ash deposition on SiO_2-based autochthonous productivity.
