The paper entitled “Forecasting of Labour Market and Skill Needs in Nowadays Society - A Case Study on Romania’s Situation Facing the Challenges of the New Economy” focuses on the latest labour market trends as well as on the skill needs in nowadays over competitive educational environment, having as main target the forecasting of the labour market and the skill needs in the particular case of Romania. The structure of this work takes into consideration the following aspects: a) In the introduction section, both the main subject and the importance of this work are presented, as well as the manner in which the issues related to this subject are addressed and the relation between the paper and the already existent specialized literature; b) In the literature review section, both the aspects related to the labour market and the skill needs are emphasised in the vision of specialists worldwide, in an attempt to discover common ideas and patterns of interaction that may also apply not only to the “old economy” but also to the “new economy”, in terms of the relationship that exists between education and globalization, the past and present experiences and innovations in the higher education area, quality assurance in education, the link between the higher education area and the private sector, and the management and development of the higher education area; c) The research methods and data collection section presents the manner in which a case study was elaborated and performed on a sample of 200 Romanian individuals working in 10 medium size Romanian organizations, during the time period 2013 - 2016 and which are the main findings. The case study is complex and has the purpose of presenting the situation in Romania in terms of the latest labour market trends, in comparison with the European Union's trends as well as the world wide trends. Moreover, the case study addresses the situation of the Romanian workers concerning elements such as: the current working perspectives, based on the workers studies and needs; the expected perspectives, based on the workers evolution after the most recent promotion in the company, the studies and the trainings they feel that they would like to attend to; the development possibilities of the company and the development possibilities of the workers; the facilities that the companies offer to the employees and the rewards the company offers in order to encourage the most devoted workers; future solutions and perspectives of the workers as well as of the company; d) The concussions section presents the evolution of the labour market tendencies both at a theoretical level and at a practical level, and the predictions for the horizon 2020 and 2030, starting from the a theoretical background addressed in the literature review section, and continuing with the data gathered and analysed from the case study applied on 200 Romanian individuals working in 10 medium size Romanian organizations, as well as from the latest published reports. In terms of results, the Romanian labour market reflects an extremely complex and challenging environment, especially after the economic crisis as well as after the recent migration waves. In the same time, the Romanian labour market is clearly affected by the number of Romanian workers that attempt to find annually a better paid job, with more long terms perspectives.
