摘要

The operational requirement for common functionality at the US Army's instrumented live training ranges has its basis in the Live Capstone Requirements Document (CRD) and several Operational Requirements Documents (ORDs). The operational requirements contained within the Live CRD and ORDs will be realized using the Common Training Instrumentation Architecture (CTIA), which is a product line architecture that seeks to leverage the high degree of commonality of requirements among the Army's instrumented ranges. This emphasis on commonality by the CTIA will improve the quality of training while significantly reducing high development, logistics, training, and maintenance costs. The CTIA objectives are to conceptualize, design, develop, produce, modify, test, deliver, and sustain a product line architecture for instrumentation, services, and equipment in support of Army live training. The product line includes: each of the Army's regional Combat Training Center (CTC); Homestation Instrumented Training System (HITS); Digital Multipurpose Range Complex (DMPRC); and Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT) facility. The CTIA and associated processes will be used as the basis for realization of each member of the product line with each product composition being a collection of common and product-unique components that collectively meet the specific product requirements. CTIA development involves a combination of domain engineering and product line deployment. The domain engineering activities include domain definition, domain analysis, and architecture development and results in the generation of a product line architecture specification. Product line deployment addresses the processes used to develop product line members using the specified architecture. Both the domain engineering and product line deployment activities are being performed following the general guidelines of the Reuse- Driven Software Process guidebook. This paper will address: tailoring of the Reuse-Driven Software Process; identification of the work products generated; and a discussion of how the work products are used to support realization of the product line.
