Amorphous soft magnetic materials (also called metallic glasses) are increasingly replacing conventional crystalline magnetic materials in many applications because of their superior soft magnetic properties. In this paper, we report on the fabrication of amorphous magnetic ribbons by the melt-spin method and how the cooling rate, viscosity and metal-metalloid ratio affect the ribbon formation.
