摘要

Presently there is explosion of information due to fast developing areas and everyday emergence of new fields specially in science and technology. This has necessitated the control and dissemination of information with the same tempo. Documents are no longer chained to racks but are brought closed to users. Persons responsible for proper dissemination are facing problems to manage and provide the desired information to the right user at right time. Resource sharing among the Science & Technology based institutions is essential now a days as every institution is suffering from scarcity of funds. The resource sharing and networking in S&T institutions also the powerful tools for both increasing productivity and enhancing services to meet the changing needs of the users. M.P. Council of Science & Technology initiated to establish a Science & Technology Network amongst 60 S&T Institutions located in Bhopal. Paper discussed the development in science and technological activities, education in Bhopal. Emphasized the necessity for co-operation among the S&T Institutions of Bhopal Mentioned objectives of resource sharing considering the rapid price escalation of printed materials vis-a-vis reduction of budgetary allocation of the institutions. Outlined a possible solution by establishing a computer network for which hardware and software requirement was given. Advantages of such network are also mentioned.
