摘要

The Berlin geothermal field is located in a volcanic area with high geological risk, due to the presence of active faults, fumarolic areas, steep topography, and nearby communities. These unstable conditions can affect the communities and also the infrastructure used for the exploitation of the geothermal field. The most significant risks identified are: hydrothermal explosions and heat in fumarolic areas, landslides, rockslides and floods. For this reason, GESAL has created programs of risk control identified in the geothermal field, so that the infrastructure used for the operation of the geothermal field not will affect the communities. GESAL also carries out community development voluntary programs, which are part of its social responsibility and institutional politics.
