The nonlinear transmission of a combination of carbon nanotubes and nonlinear optical (NLO) dye is studied experimentally using nanosecond pulses. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNT) are suspended in a solid matrix. The refractive index of the solid matrix is matched to a solvent/NLO dye solution. Evidence of both nonlinear scattering anc nonlinear absorption is reported. Though there is evidence of increased scattering due to the CNT solid matrix, no enhancement in nonlinear response is observed.
