L- Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is an essential micronutrient, involved in many biological functions as hydroxylation and collagen formation, growth, reproduction, disease resistance, stress and immune response (Chen et al., 2004). Most fishes, includingcarps, are not capable of vitamin C biosynthesis due to the absence of the enzyme L-gulono-1, 4-lactone oxidase necessary for ascorbic acid synthesis (Fracalossi et al., 2001). It plays important roles by preserving the functional and structural integrity of important immune cells (Lin and Shiau, 2005). Currently, there is no information available on the vitamin C, L-ascorbate 2- triphosphate Ca, (LATP) requirement of hybrid of Hypopthalmichthys molitrics, silver carp (male) x Aristichthys nobilis, bighead carp (female).Thus, the purpose of this study was to observe the effects of dietary supplementation of L-ascorbate 2-triphosphate Ca (LATP) on brain, liver, kidney, muscles and blood tissues concentrations.
