The collapse or break of conductors, in medium and high electrical voltage, could have dangerous consequences if it occurs in areas with informal settlement in right-of-way (ROW) of overhead transmission lines (OHTL). The OHTL cannot be configured for automatic reclosing in cases of any failures in those regions because there is a probability of conductors has dropped down and this can cause very serious accidents. When a drop of an OHTL conductor occurs, for example, in an informal settlement in a ROW zone it is essential to ensure that the automatic reclosing of the OHTL does not happen in order to avoid the risk of injury or death to persons. On the other hand, if the automatic reclosing is not allowed the OHTL may need field inspection, causing huge financial losses and penalizing the utility indicators.
