Distraction osteogenesis has evolved to become an effective tool for addressing skeletal defects of the maxillary and craniofacial regions. Recent studies using the murine model have elucidated the mechanical environment conducive to successful bone formation within the distraction gap. Investigations have also highlighted the crucial role of angiogenesis in osseous regeneration via distraction. These findings highlight the close relationship between mechanical forces and molecular signaling within the distraction environment.
