摘要

In the traditional conception of education regarding engineering and chemistry, the reinforcement of competences that should allow the future professional to face the complex problems in society in an innovative and flexible way, had not been considered explicitly necessary. Nowadays, there are standards that allow guiding the performance in modern engineering and chemist education. The results of the learning process indicate what a chemistry and engineering student should to face the new challenges that society presents. These results are classified in several categories: personal (student's performance in solving problems, to live and experience situations, to have creative and critic thinking, and to develop professional ethic concepts), interpersonal (to develop team work, leadership and communication skills) and the ability to create products and systems (conception, design, implementation and system operation in social contexts). In this sense, conceptual maps (Cmaps) are artefacts for organising and representing knowledge, whose objectives is to present relations between concepts in the form of propositions. In this communication we present our proposal, while exploring alternative approaches to explain Industrial Organic Chemistry, based on the use of concept maps, whose arboreal structure allows a global vision of the different contents, providing a teaching material of great interest.
