摘要

A new class of 'smart' or 'self-healing' advanced coatings of multifunctional properties has been developed during the last decade. Such properties add functionality to the materials of construction to protect themselves automatically after mechanical, physical or chemical damages. However. most of the smart coatings techniques available are quite expensive and need further investigation for possible use in real industrial applications. Development of simple active anti-corrosion for steels, aluminum and magnesium substrates is an issue of prime concern in key industries, including oil and gas, chemicals, automotive, and aerospace. This paper provides new insights towards the development of new simple anti-corrosion coatings. The proposed coatings characterize with the self-healing ability, ease of application at low cost and safety. The simple coating approach described in this work can be used in many industrial applications where active corrosion protection of materials is required.
