Contemporary researches of flavonoids demonstrate a wide range of their pharmacological activity.There is evidence that the basis mechanism of antiproliferative activity is the inhibition of phosphorylation ofintracellular signaling molecules (kinases, transcription factors). The aim of this study was to evaluate theantitumor effect of Licorice root flavonoids (LRF) against transplantable murine tumor model – P388lymphocytic leukemia, and to compare the antitumor effect of the combination cyclophosphamide (CP) + LRFagainst that model. Evaluation was carried out in a parallel comparison of the: control group, group that wasadministered intraperitoneally CP 24 h after inoculation of tumor material (1st day of tumor growth), groupreceiving a combination of drugs CP + LRF. The following parameters were calculated: average life expectancy(ALE), the increase of life expectancy (ELE) and the therapeutic win (TW). These findings demonstrated thatLRF (10 mg/kg) has no significant antitumor effect, however LRF potentiates the antitumor effect of CP (100mg/kg) against transplantable murine tumor model. Thereby, the LRF may be perspective agents for thedevelopment on their basis drugs for combined anticancer therapy.
