The soil bacteria Rhizobia in association with leguminous plants play a vital role in agriculture. However, in agriculture different fertilizers and pesticides are often used for betterment of crop. Microbiological studies revealed that when Rhizobium sp. cells were treated with various nitrogenous and phosphate based fertilizers, pesticides like endosulfan and dithane M 45 seperately, a decreasing value of colony forming units (cfu) with the increasing value of fertilizers and pesticides were observed. In each case maximum inactivation reaches at 90mins onwards. Liquid holding experiments also showed very little repair in dark. Ultrastructural studies depicted significant morphological changes which corroborated with the microbiological experiments.
