摘要

Agriculture is a sector that is not only directly affected by climate, but also contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and has the potential to play an important role in the mitigation of climate change. This paper explores some ofthe linkages between impacts, energy policy, and the flow-on effects of these policies, in the context of international agricultural production and trade. This research extends a partial equilibrium net trade model to include GHG emissions from livestock production, so that both trade and environmental outcomes can be assessed. GHG emissions are added to four countries/regions in the model: the EU, the US, Australia and New Zealand, using country-specific emission factors and IPCC inventory methodology. The individual and combined effects of climate and biofuel-related shocks are investigated using this trade model, the LTEM.
