摘要

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF) are a group of environmentally persistent environmental contaminants, which together formi a structurally related group of 210 theoretical compounds or congeners.1 PCDD and PCDF are listed as part of the 'dirty dozen' under the Stockholm convention as priority contaminants and persistent organic pollutants (POPs), and are controlled by international treaty under the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) POPs convention. PCDD and PCDF have the general structural formulae C_(12)H_(8-n)O2Cl_n, and C_(12)H_(8-n)OCl_n respectively (n represents the number of chlorine atoms which could be in the range of 1 to 8). Figure 1 was taken from Environment Agency1 and shows the general chemica structure of PCDD and PCDF.
