摘要

The purpose of this article is an attempt to exploit taxonomic methods to analyze the diversity of Polish regions due to the road infrastructure. The article addresses the question about the degree of diversification of transport infrastructure in Poland according tovoivodeships. Sixteen voivodeships in Poland constituted the research object. The analyses were made only for the data as of 2016on the basis of quantitative data available from the sources of the Central Statistical Office (GUS). The research applied a linear ordering method based on the taxonomic measure of development (TMR) according to the Hellwig's concept, which allowed the ranking to be separated according to the level of road infrastructure development. The objective of the Polish government is to build a functional and safe road infrastructure contributing to the growth of competitiveness of the Polish economy and stable economic development. A modern state functions properly only based on good quality infrastructure. In Poland, the task of developing the national road infrastructure has fallen to the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The governmental document on the National Roads Construction Program constitutes the foundation for the construction and maintenance of roads by GDDKiA.
