Business organizations have increasingly been charged to act aiming a sustainable development, assuming economic, environmental and social responsibilities. In this scenario, it is essential to expand the thought about sustainability to beyond the boundaries of firms, considering supply chains, and think about the concept of Sustainable Supply Chain Management. It is noteworthy the important role of focal companies, which represent the most influential organizations in their chains, and have the responsibility to ensure that sustainable actions occur along the supply chains they are part of. Thus, the aim of this study is, from a systematic literature review, the presentation of the sustainable practices undertaken by focal companies and that are expanded upstream and downstream the supply chain.
