CONTEXT OF E-WASTE MANAGEMENT IN AUSTRALIA A SLOW PROCESS BUT GROWING: Development of nationwide e-waste collection & recycling has been a relatively slow process in Australia … some would say 'glacial', Progressive and pioneering IT and CE companies have lead through voluntary demonstration, IPR and interaction with government, Ongoing B2B or commercial take-back activities constantly occurring in the background eg. HP, Canon, Fuji Xerox, Apple, Dell, Panasonic, Mobile phone industry program (Mobile Muster) has established a significant benchmark, State and Commonwealth Government historically averse to EPR regulatory intervention for political reasons i.e. avoiding 'greentape', Ultimately producers and NGOs advocated the need for WEEE regulation to maximise industry-wide involvement, funding and implementation.
