It is shown that the magnetocaloric effects are absent in the spin-flop phase of an isotropic antiferromagnet at the T＜T_N (T_N- the Neel temperature) and appear only when an applied magnetic field exceeds the critical field of the spin-flip transition. It is displayed as well that the direct magnetocaloric effects in an antiferromagnet above T_N are much less that the analogous effects in a ferromagnet above the Curie point T_C.
