Stratom is developing the expeditionary Robo-Pallet (XR-P) to automate the loading and unloading of the delivery aircraft for the Expeditionary Fire Support System (EFSS) mission. The XR-P is an autonomous logistical vehicle that will be able to carry two standard pallets of 120mm rifle mortar rounds and tow a mortar. By automating various aspects of the transport task of the resupply mission, especially the unloading in austere and hostile landing zones, the Marine's exposure is significantly reduced. The design of the XR-P required a tight balance between optimizing system capability while still meeting the strict air certification requirements for the various target aircraft that will be used to transport the XR-P.
