Due to climate changes which are growing through time, in addition to the building consumption, considered as the largest sector in energy consumption in the world, the external texture and color of materials covering the urban areas (pavements, facades and roofs), plays an important role in energy consumption and affecting the inside and outside thermal ambiance, depending on the climate variations. This study attempts to examine and analyze the effect and performance of reflective coatings of the building envelope in the context of indoor thermal comfort and energy efficiency. The study was applied for a housing building situated in a Mediterranean climate zone of Algeria, in particular the city of Skikda. The study was carried out considering the variation of the building envelope parameters seeing, orientation, outside reflectivity, thermal mass and insulation of the external walls of the edifice. The results obtained from modeling simulation, using TRNSYS software, shown that the thermal insulation combined with orientation and high solar reflectance, has influenced in a positive way the indoor air, thermal comfort levels and energy efficiency towards a better environment for the inhabitants.
