Streptococcus uberis (S. uberis) is an environmental microorganism and one of the main etiological agents associated to bovine mastitis and common intramammary infections in countries with a high milk productivity. A bacteriological culture (BC) of liquid milk sample is considered as the current gold standard methodology for laboratory diagnosis. However, the development of molecular technologies like Real Time PCR (qPCR) and the use of some sample preservation tools such as FTA~Rcards (Whatman [GE Healthcare], NJ, USA)1, offers interesting alternative methods for diagnostics. The aim of this study was to compare two different diagnostic methodologies for diagnostic of S. uberis in milk samples.
