摘要

Veterinary clinical practice has always required attention to our clients as consumers. In contrast, human healthcare has a long tradition of provider-centered care, with compliant and self-sufficient patients considered ideal.1 However, a large and growing body of evidence from human healthcare shows that high patient experience metrics are strongly correlated with quality of care, reduced medical errors, improved staff engagement, and hospital financial performance.2 Although veterinarians arguablyhave been aware of the importance of engaging clients in their pet's healthcare for far longer than many MDs have believed in similar courtesy for their patients, the veterinary industry's client satisfaction tools lag behind evidence-based approaches on the human side.
