摘要

River continuity in terms of undisturbed migration of aquatic organisms is essential to ensure good state of water bodies. River Meuse in Belgium has been heavily engineered in the past century, with 24 weirs installed between French and Dutch borders. Together with increase of flshing, this resulted in a total disappearing of atlantic salmon populations around 1935. Since 1987,large efforts started to reintroduce salmon in the Meuse basin; and to improve and restore river continuity and fish habitats.
