Thermal 1,2-shifts of a group from the α-acetoxysilanes is known to occur between 200 and 270 °C.1 The reaction usually takes place with almost complete inversion of configuration, and shows good preference for phenyl over methyl migration. As synthetic routes to acylsilanes are limited, thermal rearrangements of α-acetoxysilanes have not yet reached a point where it is a practical and general synthetic methods. We report herein that palladium-catalyzed allylation reaction of aldehydes with organosilyl-substituted allyl acetates that involves alkyl or aryl group migration from reactant silanes.
