摘要

Photoluminescence (PL) in the near infrared (NIR) region is applicable to bioimaging and telecommunication devices. Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with semiconducting features show NIR PL whose properties are governed by photogenerated excitons in the one-dimensional nanostructures. Defect doping to SWNTs is gathering great attentions due to enhance the contribution of the excitons to PL. The doped sites work as emissive sites with narrower bandgaps and exciton trapping features. As a result, additional PL (E_(11)*) with red-shifted wavelengths and enhanced quantum yields newly appears compared to original PL (E_(11)) of pristine SWNTs.
