Since the implementation of the Clean Air Act and the proceeding Amendments, companies have had the ability to define trade secrets when applying for air permits and submitting environmental reports. In 1992, the United Nations implemented an Environmental Information Disclosure edict establishing guidance for what information the public should have available to them.
