Gamma-irradiation-induced mutations in higher plants are widely used in plant breeding and research for functional genomics. However, there has been very little knowledge into the types of mutations that gamma irradiation causes in higher plant genomes. In this study, we used rice, the full genome sequence of which is available, for analysis of mutations induced by gamma-irradiation.
