An array of polymer grid triodes (PGTs) connected through a conmon grid funcitons as a "plastic retina" which porovides local contrast gain contorl for image enhacement.This device,made from layers of ocnducting polymers,funcitosn as n active resistive network that peorforms enter-surround filtering.The PGT array with common gird is a ocntinuous anlog of the discrete approach of Mead.ewith a variety of fabrication advantages and with a significant saving of "real estate" within the unit cell of each pixel.
