We discuss the growth,the benefits and risks,of business users taking a more active parts in developing computerised information applicatiosn.After briefly discussing IS (information system) developemtn management issues relating to user based IS development,we propose a framework for indicating the extent to which particular busness users need to know about the process of developing IT systems.Ee then outline our recent research which addresses the measurement of BUD (Business User Developmetn) success factors and identifies typical IT involvement levels of usiness users.
