摘要

Agarius blazei Murrill (Himematsutake) had great value as a functional food because it was obvious with the experiment which was performed using mice that the (1-6)-β-D-glucan-protein-complex had an anti-tumor effect. Our previous studies revealed that Agaricus blazei Murrill had several anti-tumor effects. In this study, we examined a radioprotective effect of a heatextracted Agaricus blazei Murrill (ABM-FD) using the survival rate of male ICR mice exposed to 8. 0 Gy whole-body X-ray irradiation. The ABM-FD dose is 500 mg/kg body weight per os. The groups oral administered ABM-FD was classified into three groups according to the day of the first irradiation; the group that was administered before 3 days from irradiation, the group that was administered at same day of irradiation and the group that was administered 3 days after irradiation. They say that the cause of death by irradiation was gastrointestinal damage, so we examined whether an enteric bacteria of the mice blood was cultured on an agar medium or not. The survival rates of all administered groups were significantly increased against the control group. The survival rate of the group administered 3 days after irradiation was 83%. In the all dead mice, the enteric bacteria was detected in these blood cultures, then it was suggested that these mice became a bactriaemia. According to the experimental results, it was suggested that the radiation death was caused by radiation intestinal damage, and the subjects that had continuous oral administration of ABM-FD might have enhanced the recovery capability from intestinal damage after irradiation. These mechanisms haven' t been still revealed, but it was strongly suggested that ABM-FD is suitable for a strong radioprotective agent.
