摘要

Despite operating in complex, dynamic, and frequentlyrnchanging environments, organizations have a vested interestrnin making sure that knowledge created today is availablernfor use tomorrow. This paper describes a case study ofrnknowledge management (KM) at the end of the Iraq war, rnwhere the breadth and depth of KM was extreme. KMrnactivities are analyzed using Anderson’s KM and Kling’srnsocial informatics frameworks. The results reveal that manyrnof the challenges mirror the socio-technicalrninterdependencies identified in other organizational settingsrnand suggests that lessons learned from this extreme caserncan be used to inform KM practices of informationrnprofessionals in non-combat environments.
