The aim of this study is to form the basis of a furtherrnanalysis on night ventilation for cooling purposes inrnmodern Swedish office buildings. An existíng Swedishrnoffice building with night ventilation has; beenrnmonitored and a complementary study on buildingrnenergy end-uses with the help of the DOE-2 buildingrnsimulation program. Has been carried out.rnMeasurements show that the building's energy usagernis on a low level regarding thermal as well as electricalrnenergy end use. The total annual electricity use in thernoffice building studied I.e. by fans, office lighting,rnequipment and elevators, amounted to 57 KWh/m2rnoffice arca.rnIn order to makc a comprehensive study on nightrnventilation, the detailed performance of the simulationrnmodel needs further calibration, although an acceptablernagreernent between measured and simulated electricityrnusage on a monthly basis is achieved. Irregularrnoccupancy, manual air-handling system operationrn(especially night ventilation control) and partlyrnunsuitable default fan part load curves in the DOE-2rnmodel clearly show the need for more detailed analysesrnin order to hav, e an acceptable agreement betweenrnmeasurements and simulations during the summerrnperiod.
