Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen. According to our program, the invited speaker for this evening should be the Minister of Environment Canada. Unfortunately, as you can see, I am not Mme Jeanne Sauve! However, I am happy to have this opportunity to speak to you, particularly since I did some research on the reactions of ozone with phenol several years ago. In addition, I met Dr. Rip Rice at a conference in the United States in 1973, just before the International Ozone Institute was formed. Thus, I have considerable interest both in ozone and in the Institute.
