The nitrogen absorption of dual-purpose rice and its convertibility in Lentinula edodes was studied with ~(15)N isotopic tracer technique. Comparing on N content and ~(15)N recoverability, the results showed the significant improvement for both values obtained from rice straw of 201 than that from the straw of TY63 by 47.07% and 175.33% respectively, with no, however remarkable differences assessed from grain of both verities. N content and ~(15)N recoverability analyzed for the mycelium and fruit bodies of Lentinula edodes were similar for both obtained from the medium of 201straw and rice bran. The results from two mediums showed as: N contents were 1.23% and 1.08% for mycelium, 3.161% and 3.526% for fruit bodies, ~(15)N recoverability were 5.64% and 6.13% for mycelium, 17.939% and 19.998% for fruit bodies, respectively. Comparatively, those results were significantly higher than that from the straw of Te-you 63. The study indicated that dual-purpose rice was characterized by the advantages on N absorption, accumulation, and its bio-convertibility in lentinula edodes from both of grain and straw.
