Until recently, lifetime evaluation and management of Argentine nuclear power plants was mainly based on corrective maintenance concepts. As a consequence of an increasing concern about ageing and life extension, a process to evaluate the lifetime of systems, structures and components has been created. This comprises the identification of critical components, ageing mechanisms and materials likely to age. The main components considered include Channels and Core Internals, Pressure Vessel and Steam Generators. Constant monitoring and evaluation of the main components aims to offers safety, reliable and effective operation cost of the Nuclear Power Plants.
