We report several methods to monitor and improve reagentrndistribution and mixing on an acrylic card designed to demonstraternmultiplexed distribution. Results show that the even distribution ofrna reagent from a common central well to multiple channels isrnstrongly dependent on the chemical state of the microchannelrnsurfaces. We have characterized the performance in acrylicrnmicrochannels treated by solution, polymer adsorption, andrnchemical vapor-phase processes. We also describe severalrnpumping systems built on our multiplex distribution cards that utilize electroosmotic flow as the motivating mechanism. Byrncoating the appropriate channels with charged species, thesernsystems have been demonstrated as a method of reagentrndistribution.
