Fused benzoherterocyclic ring systems 1 represents a new class of highly activ protoporphrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibitors.These compounds differe form traditional 2,4,5-trisubstitutephenyl-1-heteroaryl PPO inhibiting herbicides in that pooistions 4 and 5 of the phenyl ring are ilinkd together to form a fused heterocyclic ring.Synthesi,bilogicla properties.and SAR are discussed.
